La creación en 1937 de la Sección Histórica dentro de la estructura organizativa de las Brigadas Internacionales supuso la puesta en marcha de un servicio de documentación para apoyar la actividad de agit-prop del comisariado de guerra. Diferentes planes ideados por algunos de sus colaboradores, como Schindler y Anger, intentaron mejorar su capacidad de archivo de documentos, hasta llegar a proponer la creación de un Archivo Histórico.
The creation in 1937 of the Historical Section within the organizational structure of the International Brigades involved the launching of a documentation service to support the agit-prop activity of the political commissariat. Different plans devised by some of their collaborators, such as Schindler and Anger, tried to improve their document archiving capacity, until they came to propose the creation of a Historical Archive.
